As a new energy product with advantages such as energy-saving and environmental protection, LED solar street lights are now widely used. Due to their popularity, many manufacturers have emerged. However, in pursuit of profits, some manufacturers use inferior materials, leading to issues such as LED solar street lights toppling over in strong winds. Today, we will explain what materials should be chosen for LED solar street lights to ensure wind resistance.
1. Light Fixtures
As an important component of LED solar street lights, the quality of light fixtures is crucial. The material should be aluminum alloy with a thickness that meets customer requirements. There must be no cracks or holes in the lamp body, and all connection points of various components must have good contact points. The buckle parts are especially important; previously, poor buckle designs resulted in many fixtures being damaged after strong winds. Therefore, it is necessary to use spring clips and install two of them. The light fixtures should open from the top, and important components like the ballast must be securely fixed to the lamp body to prevent safety accidents caused by falling components if the cover is damaged.
2. Lamp Poles
The height of the lamp pole should be chosen based on the road width and usage conditions. The wall thickness must reach at least 3.5mm, with both internal and external hot-dip galvanizing. The thickness of the galvanizing layer should be no less than 35 μm. The flange thickness should be above 18mm, and strengthening ribs should be welded between the flange and the lamp pole to ensure the strength of the base. Previously, many incidents of lamp poles breaking under strong winds were caused by non-compliant galvanization and lack of reinforcement. Thus, the wall thickness, galvanizing thickness, and whether reinforcement is welded are essential indicators of lamp pole quality.
3. Base
The base is a significant part of the overall wind resistance and safety of LED solar street lights. C20 concrete should be used for casting, with the choice of anchor bolts depending on the height of the lamp pole. For an 8m lamp pole, the anchor bolt diameter should be Φ20, with a length of 1100mm. The base depth should be 1200mm. For a 10m lamp pole, the specifications change to Φ22 bolts with a length of 1200mm and a base depth of 1300mm. For a 12m lamp pole, the specifications are similar, but the depth increases to 1400mm.
The size of the base’s lower part should be larger than the upper part to enhance stability and improve wind resistance.
When purchasing LED solar street lights, look for manufacturers specializing in the research, development, production, and sales of solar and LED outdoor lighting. A manufacturer with years of production experience and advanced equipment ensures quality, reasonable pricing, and configuration.
