Recently, some customers have inquired about the situation where the
LED solar street lights
do not light up when it gets dark. They want to understand the cause through a professional manufacturer of solar street lights. We have provided several responses to the customers: If the LED solar street lights have been installed and functioned normally for a while before exhibiting this issue, first check the response of the indicator lights on the solar street light controller. If none of the two indicator lights are lit, the controller may have been damaged, which could be due to strong electric current impacts, such as direct lightning strikes or short circuits.
If at night, the LED solar street light control indicator shows normal discharge and the battery has sufficient voltage, but the street light fixtures do not illuminate, we suggest directly connecting the positive and negative terminals of the LED solar street light to the positive and negative terminals of the battery for testing. If this test shows no discharge, then the lamp driver or rectifier is most likely damaged. It is advisable to check again with a professional multimeter.
Solar Street Light Controller
shows a low voltage state, failing to light up after dark, even though the battery voltage exceeds the undervoltage threshold, indicating that the battery still has power. For a
24V
system, the undervoltage protection value is approximately
22.2V
(the default value of the controller). Once the battery voltage drops to this point, the controller will shut off the power and stop discharging, mainly to protect the battery from being overly discharged, which could compromise the subsequent use of the entire device.
The solar street light’s solar panel charges the battery during the day, and it will only continue discharging when the voltage reaches
24V
. The primary purpose of this setup is to prevent the battery from being damaged due to prolonged deep discharge. In cases of battery undervoltage, if the solar street light controller is not restarted, voltages between
22.2V
and
24V
are considered undervoltage state. The discharge will only continue once the solar street light battery voltage exceeds
24V
.
