Solar energy, as a renewable resource that is inexhaustible and sustainable, is increasingly favored by people. It promotes the development of low-carbon living, and with the continuous improvement of the efficiency in converting solar energy to electricity, the use of solar energy for power generation has become a reality. It is already being applied in various fields, especially in the lighting sector, where solar streetlights are starting to be used on a large scale domestically. So, what are the requirements for the installation location of solar streetlights? Here are some insights shared by the editorial team of Century Sunshine Lighting:
1. The solar panels should face directly south.
2. The solar streetlights should be kept away from heat sources to prevent the lifespan of the fixtures from being affected.
3. There should be no direct light sources above the solar panels to avoid misidentification by the lighting control system, leading to erroneous operations.
4. The foundation construction for the solar streetlight pole must have sufficient strength, and the embedded parts need to be reliable and compatible with the light base.
5. The solar array should be installed in an area without tall buildings, trees, power poles, or any obstructions to sunlight and wind. If unobstructed conditions cannot be met, efforts should be made to ensure there are no obstructions from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
6. The design of protective grounding and lightning protection facilities should strictly adhere to the “Building Lightning Protection Design Code.” All solar streetlight poles and electrical equipment should have reliable grounding and lightning protection facilities. After the foundation pit is excavated, for poles under 12m, a 50mm x 5mm x 1500mm galvanized angle steel should be driven into the corners of the pit, with grounding resistance kept below 10Ω. In difficult geological conditions, solutions such as embedding grounding bodies or using resistance reducers can be employed.
The above outlines the requirements for the installation locations of solar streetlights. Today, solar streetlights have become an ideal solution for road lighting. With the continuous advancement of society, solar streetlights will be utilized in more and more areas, allowing the abundant solar energy to benefit humanity.
