The principle of powder electrostatic spraying is based on the high-voltage electrostatic corona field principle. The metal flow cup at the spray gun head is connected to a high-voltage negative electrode, while the workpiece being coated is grounded to form a positive electrode, creating a strong electrostatic field between the spray gun and the workpiece. When the carrier gas (compressed air) transports the powder coating from the supply barrel through the feed pipe to the gun’s flow cup, the flow cup generates corona discharge due to the high-voltage negative connection, creating a dense charge around it. The powder gains a negative charge and is uniformly attracted to the workpiece under the action of electrostatic forces and compressed air. After heating, the powder melts and solidifies into a uniform, smooth coating film. Electrostatic spraying can be divided into painting and plastic spraying.
Additionally, there is a high-temperature plastic spraying technology that has developed in recent years as a new surface treatment method, mainly used to enhance the surface performance of metal parts. It improves the wear resistance, corrosion resistance to special media, oxidation resistance, electrical insulation, and also serves effective surface decoration. The basic principle is to melt nylon through flame heating and spray it onto the pre-prepared workpiece surface to achieve the desired coating layer.
