In our standard configuration of solar street lights, the parameter IP65 frequently appears. Some business partners might wonder, what exactly is IP65?
Today, manufacturers of solar street lights will explain what IP65 means:
The “I” in IP65 refers to the dust protection level. There are six levels of dust protection:
0: No protection;
1: Protection against the entry of large solids;
2: Protection against the entry of medium-sized solids;
3: Protection against the entry of small solids;
4: Protection against the entry of solids larger than 1mm;
5: Protection against harmful dust accumulation;
6: Complete protection against dust ingress;
The “P” in IP65 refers to the water protection level, which has six levels:
0: No protection;
1: Water dripping into the enclosure has no effect;
2: Water dripping into the enclosure has no effect when tilted at 15 degrees;
3: Water or rain falling at an angle of 60 degrees has no effect;
4: Liquids splashed from any direction onto the enclosure have no harmful effects;
5: Water jets do not cause any damage;
6: Suitable for use in environments on boats;
7: Can withstand immersion in water for a short period (1m);
8: Can be immersed in water under specific pressure for a long time.
In summary, IP65 indicates that the lamp is completely dust-tight and capable of being rinsed without any damage.
As an outdoor lighting fixture, solar street lights often face disturbances from dust in the air, not to mention exposure to sun and rain. Therefore, the ability to prevent dust ingress and withstand rinsing without damage is crucial for any solar street light.
