4. Battery. Under normal usage, batteries generally need replacement every 3 to 5 years, as their performance declines after about 5 years. The actual capacity of a 3 to 5-year-old battery diminishes significantly compared to the initial capacity, impacting the brightness. The cost to replace a battery is relatively low.
5. Controller. Typically, controllers have a high waterproof sealing level and can hold up for about 5 to 6 years without issue.
Overall, the key factor affecting the lifespan of solar street lights is the battery. When purchasing solar street lights, it’s advisable to opt for a larger battery capacity. The lifespan of a battery is determined by its cycling discharge life, which is approximately 400 to 700 full discharges. If the battery capacity barely meets the daily discharge needs, it can be easily damaged. However, if the battery capacity is several times greater than the daily discharge amount, it significantly extends the battery’s lifespan and ensures adequate power during extended rainy days.
