In our current lives, solar garden lights seem to be everywhere, in parks, squares, and communities. Energy-saving and environmentally friendly are the basic attributes of solar garden lights, which are a favored new product in lighting. Their solar panels convert sunlight into direct current electricity through photoelectric conversion. This electricity charges a storage battery, which stores the energy. When night falls, the system discharges electricity from the battery through a controller, automatically turning on the lights to illuminate the night.
Solar garden lights is a term we are all familiar with, and most people should have some understanding of the specific product knowledge related to solar garden lights. Below, we will outline some important considerations for installing solar garden lights.
1) Solar Garden Light Equipment
Solar Garden Light Light Source
should use low-power high-color-rendering sodium lamps, metal halide lamps, high-pressure mercury lamps, or incandescent lamps. The insulation resistance value of the conductive components of each light fixture should be greater than 2MΩ.
Solar garden lights should be installed upright. Pole-style lights, ground lights, and special horticultural lights must be securely fixed to their bases, and the mounting bolts should be fully enclosed. The fuse in each light’s fuse box should be complete and compatible with the light fixture. The waterproof sealing gaskets of the light’s junction box or fuse box should be properly installed.
The street lights on overhead poles must be correctly positioned and securely fixed, with complete and tightened fasteners. Each fixture should be equipped with a fuse for protection. For garden lights and pole-mounted lights equipped with devices that automatically turn on or off based on natural light brightness, adjustments must be made to ensure the automatic power control device operates correctly.
2) Grounding of Solar Garden Lights
The grounding of solar garden lights must be strictly observed. Metal poles and fixtures should be securely connected to the PEN wire. The grounding wire should be established as a separate main line, forming a ring network along the layout of the solar garden lights. The grounding main line should be connected to at least two points of the grounding equipment. From this grounding main line, branches should extend to connect with the grounding terminals of the metal lamp posts and fixtures, and they should be properly labeled.
The grounding branch of the fixture must not be connected in series with the fixture to avoid loss of grounding protection for other fixtures in case of displacement or replacement of individual fixtures.
3) Power-on Testing
After installing the fixtures and passing insulation testing, power-on testing is allowed. After powering on, it is essential to carefully inspect and monitor to check if the control of the fixtures is responsive. Ensure that the switch and fixture control sequence corresponds correctly. If any issues arise, power should be immediately shut off to identify and rectify the problems.
