Some swimming pools install underwater lights to attract customers. Underwater lights are electric products designed for underwater use, and their installation in swimming pools requires special technical specifications for safety reasons.

1. The protection standards for underwater lights in swimming pools include both dustproof and waterproof categories. The IEC standards specify the internationally recognized protection marking symbols as follows:

1. The national standard dictates that the dustproof level of lamps is categorized into grade 6. Grade 6 is considered high level, and the dustproof level of underwater lights in swimming pools should meet grade 6, marked as IP6X.

2. The national standard stipulates that the waterproof level of lamps is categorized into grade 8. Grade 6 is splash-proof, grade 7 is waterproof, and grade 8 is pressure-tight waterproof. The eighth grade is high, and the waterproof level of underwater lights in swimming pools should meet grade 8 requirements, marked as IPX8. Considering both aspects, the underwater lights must have a dustproof level of 6 and a waterproof level of 8, marked as IP68.

3. The anti-electricity safety standards divide into four categories: Class O, Class I, Class II, and Class III. Furthermore, it is explicitly stated that underwater lighting fixtures in swimming pools, fountains, and similar places should be Class III anti-electricity protection. The working voltage of both external and internal circuits should not exceed 12V.

4. The rated working voltage is a critical electrical parameter that directly determines the usage environment of the light. The actual working voltage must align with the rated working voltage; otherwise, either the light source could be damaged due to excessive voltage, or insufficient voltage could prevent achieving desired lighting effects.

2. The lighting function primarily refers to the brightness of the light source. It should be selected based on illumination height and projection area, considering different wattages. Another element is the color of LED underwater lights, generally available in red, yellow, green, blue, and white, which can be chosen based on the application scenario and atmosphere.

3. Appearance and shell material are also important. Although underwater lights are not very visible, their shape and material correlate with the weight of the fixture. If the weight is too light, it could float and loosen the fixing screws. If excessively heavy, it may be difficult to support. Additionally, due to prolonged underwater use, the shell material should offer corrosion resistance, and the paint layer should be durable.

4. Economic considerations involve both the initial investment and overall operating costs. In general, higher-quality underwater lights may have a higher price but offer longer service lives and lower operating costs, whereas lower-quality lights, while cheaper, may lead to issues like leaks or electrical failures, ultimately raising operational costs and impacting project acceptance.
