Recently, some customers have contacted our factory indicating that even after dark, the lights remain off and are inquiring about the issue. After our investigation, we can provide the following responses:
1. If the solar street lights have been installed and have been in normal use for a period of time, you should first check the response of the controller indicators. If neither of the two indicator lights is on, it is possible that the controller has been damaged, which may have occurred due to a strong current impact on the system.
2. If the issue occurs at night where the solar street light controller indicator shows normal discharge and the battery has sufficient voltage, but the solar street light still does not turn on, our recommendation is to connect the positive and negative terminals of the solar street light directly to the positive and negative terminals of the battery for testing. If the light does not discharge during this test, it is highly likely that the driver or rectifier is damaged, and it is advisable to use a professional testing meter for further inspection.
3. When the solar street light controller indicates a undervoltage status and the lights do not turn on after dark, but the battery voltage exceeds the undervoltage threshold indicating that the battery is charged. In a 24V system, the default undervoltage protection value is around 22.2V. Once the battery voltage drops to this point, the controller will disconnect the power and stop discharging to protect the battery from excessive discharge, which could affect the subsequent use of the equipment. During the day, the solar street light panel charges the battery. The charging voltage must reach 24V (the controller’s default value) for it to continue discharging. This setting aims to prevent the battery from being deeply discharged over a long period. In the case of a battery being in an undervoltage state, if the solar street light controller is not restarted, voltages between 22.2V and 24V will be considered as undervoltage. Only when the solar street light battery voltage is charged above 24V will it continue discharging.
