Therefore, there should be functionalities for light control that turn the lights on and off based on ambient light conditions.
The second function is protective function control, which includes anti-backflow protection for solar panels, overcharging and deep discharge protection for batteries, and temperature compensation features. Anti-backflow functionality is typically implemented by incorporating a diode in the solar charging circuit to prevent reverse charging, often using Schottky diodes due to their lower voltage drop compared to regular diodes. Many lithium-ion batteries already come with protection circuits to prevent overcharging and deep discharging, eliminating the need for additional protective functions in the controller design. If there is no protection circuit, these functions should be included in the controller design, as excessive discharging can damage many batteries. The cutoff discharge voltage should not be set too low. The constant current driving for LEDs is primarily achieved through boost circuits or dedicated constant current chips, adjusting input current to maintain consistent LED driving despite fluctuating battery voltage.
