To improve the efficiency and economic benefits of home solar power generation systems, we should pay attention to the following two major points when maintaining these systems:
Precautions for Solar Panels:
(1) To avoid the risk of electric shock from arcing, do not disconnect electrical connections while under load. Ensure that the connectors are dry and clean, and in good working condition. Do not insert other metal objects into the connectors or make other electrical connections. Unless the panels are disconnected from the electrical connection and you are wearing personal protective equipment, maintain a safe distance.
(2) Do not place flammable liquids, gases, or explosive materials near the solar panels.
(3) In the event of a fire, even if the solar panels are disconnected from the inverter and partially or fully burned, the system cables damaged, the solar panels may still generate hazardous DC voltage. Therefore, keep a safe distance from the solar power generation system during a fire until appropriate measures are taken to ensure safety.
(4) Do not cover the solar panels while the system is operational, as performance and power generation will significantly decrease if one or more panels are covered.
(5) Do not step on or place heavy objects on the surface of the panels to avoid micro-cracks in the solar cells.
(6) After prolonged operation, dust or dirt may accumulate on the panel surface, reducing output power. It is recommended to clean the panels periodically, preferably in the morning or late afternoon, especially in areas with little rainfall or high dust. Avoid cleaning broken solar panels or exposed cables to prevent hazards.
(7) When clearing snow from the surface of the solar panels, gently use a brush. Do not use hard objects to remove ice that has formed on the surface.
Precautions for Inverters:
(1) Inverters are set up after completion; non-professionals should not touch inverters or other solar equipment.
(2) Do not touch the cooling apparatus of the inverter to avoid burns.
(3) Do not place hazardous materials near the inverter.
(4) Do not change the location of the inverter on your own, as environmental factors suitable for its operation were considered during installation.
(5) Do not obstruct the ventilation system of the inverter.
(6) Disconnect the inverter’s AC or DC voltage in the following order: first, the AC voltage; then, the DC voltage.
(7) Regularly clean the dust from the inverter housing using a vacuum or a soft brush, and ensure that only dry tools are used. If necessary, remove dirt from the vents to prevent overheating, which can impair inverter performance.
