Solar Street Light Poles
The purpose of galvanizing is to prevent internal metal oxidation, thus playing a role in corrosion resistance and extending the lifespan of the streetlight fixtures. However, compared to cold galvanizing, hot galvanizing is more effective in preventing corrosion.
Cold galvanizing, also known as electro-galvanizing, involves using electrolytic equipment to clean the workpiece, followed by putting it into a zinc salt solution and connecting it to the negative electrode of the electrolytic device. A zinc plate is placed opposite the workpiece and connected to the positive electrode. When the power is turned on, the current moves from the positive to negative pole, depositing a layer of zinc on the workpiece; the electro-galvanized surface is smooth and glossy, with a yellow-green tint for those treated with colored passivation.
However, in the complex corners of the workpiece, it is easy to create “electro-burn” off which results in a dark gray appearance. The zinc layer in these areas may become thicker. In the inner corners, it is prone to current dead zones, producing areas with insufficient current and a thinner zinc layer. Overall, there are no phenomena like zinc tumors or clumping on the workpiece.
Hot galvanizing requires the workpiece to be cleaned, pickled, heated, and dried before immersion in molten zinc for a certain period.
The appearance of hot galvanizing is somewhat rougher than that of electro-galvanizing, presenting a silver-white color, with patterns and slight dripping, especially noticeable at one end of the workpiece. However, the zinc layer of hot galvanizing is dozens of times thicker than that of electro-galvanizing, providing significantly better corrosion resistance.
