From the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the Autonomous Region, it was reported that in 2015, Guangxi allocated 11 million yuan in special funds for energy-saving renovations of urban lighting, primarily replacing them with LED light sources. This funding is the first financial support received by the industry since the 12th Five-Year Plan. Upon completion of the renovations, an estimated energy-saving target of 30% is expected, greatly improving the urban lighting effect. Currently, the proportion of green energy-saving lighting fixtures used in Guangxi’s urban road lighting is about 65%, and this proportion will increase to 68% after the renovations are completed.
To effectively utilize these funds, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Finance Department selected 17 cities and counties based on project reports to support local energy-saving renovation efforts of urban lighting, replacing them with new, efficient energy-saving lighting fixtures represented by LED technology, as well as constructing intelligent lighting management control systems.
The characteristics of LED street lights are energy-saving, environmentally friendly, long-lasting, high brightness, and uniform illumination. With technological advancements over the past few years, the manufacturing and packaging technology for LED street lights has greatly improved, overcoming the drawbacks of rapid light decay and high costs when they were first introduced. Additionally, the use of intelligent control systems to adjust the lighting and brightness can further save electricity and management costs.
According to incomplete statistics, by the end of November 2015, energy-saving renovation projects for urban lighting supported by the autonomous region’s financial funds completed the energy-saving renovation of a total of 16,280 street lights. Moving forward, efforts will be accelerated to advance energy-saving renovations in urban lighting, fundamentally completing the elimination of high-energy consumption and high-pollution products such as mercury lamps and incandescent lamps, ensuring the achievement of energy-saving goals.
Currently, cities and counties such as Wuzhou, Guigang, and Zhongshan have completed energy-saving renovations of lighting on main and secondary roads through a contract energy management model, achieving efficient operational management of urban lighting. Cities and counties like Guilin, Guiping, and Cenxi are gradually completing the renovation and use of energy-efficient lighting fixtures represented by LED technology with the help of financial funds. Additionally, cities and counties such as Nanning, Fangchenggang, Hezhou, Laibin, Fusui, and Yongfu are actively promoting energy-saving renovations of urban lighting.
Street lights are produced by LED street light manufacturers, known as a brand manufacturer of solar lighting fixtures for outdoor use in lighting for 15 years.
