When choosing solar street lights, it is important to consider not only their aesthetics and functionality but also the wind and dust resistance of the fixtures and poles. Therefore, strict attention must be given to the quality during the manufacturing of street lights. This ensures the safe use of street lights in urban infrastructure, facilitating convenient travel and daily life for people.
1. Fixtures
The quality and opening mechanism of the fixtures are crucial. The material should be aluminum alloy with a thickness that meets specifications, free from cracks and holes. There should be good contact points at the connection of various components, especially at the snap joints, which are critical. Previous designs of fixtures have suffered from unreasonable snap designs, leading to numerous fixtures being damaged after strong winds. Therefore, it is advisable to use spring snaps on the fixtures, ideally two of them, with an upper direct opening mechanism. Important components like the ballast should be secured to the fixture to prevent accidents caused by falling parts if the lampshade is damaged.
2. Poles
The height of the poles should be chosen based on the width of the road and usage conditions. The wall thickness must be at least 3.5mm, internally and externally galvanized, with a galvanizing thickness of over 35μm. The flange thickness should be more than 18mm, and there should be welded reinforcing ribs between the flange and the pole to ensure the strength at the base. In the past, inadequate galvanization and lack of reinforcing ribs have led to severe corrosion at the base, resulting in poles breaking due to wind. Therefore, the wall thickness, galvanizing thickness, and the presence of welded reinforcing ribs are important indicators of whether a pole is qualified for use.
3. Foundation
The foundation of the street light, as a hidden part of the installation, is very important for the overall wind resistance and safe use of the lights. First, C20 concrete should be used for pouring the foundation. The choice of anchor bolts depends on the height of the pole: for an 8m pole, use Φ20 bolts, 1100mm in length, with a foundation depth of 1200mm; for a 10m pole, choose Φ22 bolts, 1200mm long, with a foundation depth of 1300mm; for a 12m pole, use Φ22 bolts, 1300mm long, with a foundation depth of 1400mm. The base dimensions must be larger at the bottom than at the top to enhance stability and wind resistance.
